Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose between 25G and 100G networking?

Match the card to the fabric, not the other way round. Dual-port 25GbE cards are the workhorse for storage and virtualization nodes — the price/performance sweet spot, and they interoperate with existing 10G/25G switches. Go 100GbE when you are building a leaf-spine fabric with 100G uplinks, connecting GPU nodes, or feeding all-flash arrays that can actually absorb the bandwidth. Rule of thumb: 25G for node access, 100G for spine and storage front-end.

Should I buy an HBA or a RAID card?

An HBA such as the 9300-8i or 9400-16i passes drives straight through to the operating system, so ZFS, vSAN, Ceph and Storage Spaces do the RAID work in software — that is what most modern deployments choose. A hardware RAID card adds its own cache with battery or flash backup and runs RAID in firmware. Choose hardware RAID for legacy or boot-critical arrays; choose an HBA for software-defined storage and tri-mode NVMe backplanes.

How do you verify firmware and OPN before shipping?

Every card is checked against the manufacturer specification: OPN, port count, PCIe generation, bracket height and firmware level all go on the quote. If you are matching an existing fleet, send us the OPN or a photo of the label and we confirm the exact revision — including whether the card is an OEM pull or a retail-channel part.

Do you ship dual-port cards as matched pairs?

Yes. For HA and link-aggregation builds we test and ship dual-port cards as a matched pair from the same batch and the same firmware level, so both ports negotiate identically in the fabric. Single cards are available on the same lead time.

What testing and warranty do the cards come with?

Every card carries a 1-year warranty. Before dispatch it goes through a 48-hour burn-in, a port loopback and link-negotiation test, and a firmware read-back. The test record travels with the shipment so your team can file it against the asset record.

Need a Network or RAID Card Quote?

Send us the OPN, quantity and the server the card is going into. We confirm firmware, bracket and revision before we quote — usually within one business day.
